“Innovation through Challenge” Conference
Be inspired and motivated to succeed by our exciting speakers.
Gerry Duffy:
DECA Enduroman and Ironman Distance Triathlon and author of WHO DARES, RUNS. Gerry famously completed 32 marathons in 32 days in August 2010, in the process over €500,000 was raised for Irish charities.

Gerry, in 1995 having recognised he had a weight problem, lost over 4 stone in weight and took up running. An author, a motivational speaker and a qualified fitness instructor, Gerry has been self- employed for the past nine years.  He firmly believes that human beings can do so much more than we give ourselves credit for and is keen in leading by example.

This event is sure to be a motivational one as Gerry speaks from the heart on how overcame his weight problem, completed 32 marathons in 32 days and then went on to complete the DECA Enduroman Distance Triathlon, dubbed the ‘Toughest 10 Day Endurance event in the World’, finishing first by over 22 hours.
Team HERMES, IT Sligo:
The Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology competition, honoring student innovations that address global problems. Team HERMES from IT Sligo took home top honors in the Software Design competition – the lead category in the competition.
The team’s project is designed to improve road safety by tracking an individual’s journey and giving the driver (and other stakeholders) a report of driving behaviour. The report shows any dangerous or erratic driving on a particular trip. This information can be shared with insurance companies, parents or law enforcement agencies. Using a mix of embedded technology, mobile devices along with cloud technology; the solution has the ability to change driving habits to reduce road deaths around the world.

Currently the project is designed to provide post driving reporting, but for future iterations of the project, Team Hermes plans to include live reporting and immediate feedback to the driver.
