Mediation Skills for Managers

Course Objectives:
Participants who attend this course will:
- Gain a clear understanding of key principles of mediation and benefits and applications for the workplace.
- Gain a strategic and objective view of the dynamics of workplace conflict and explore five key conflict handling modes.
- Know when, where and why mediation skills are useful as well as key considerations around mediating as a manager or Human Resources Manager.
- Acquire knowledge and practice of key conflict resolving theory and skills.
- Understand the basic structure of a mediation process and be able to apply this appropriately to a conflict in the workplace.
- Have practiced using basic mediation skills in role play situations.
The course will run over two full days and will be followed up with 2 one-to-one sessions of Conflict Management Coaching – a one- to-one intervention to support you in managing difficult conversations and interactions with staff and clients in the workplace.
